Our service goes beyond simple removal; we safeguard your home to ensure it remains secure against future invasions.

Our rodent control services include:

Rodent Control Serving South Florida

Rodents love building nests inside homes and commercial facilities, especially in winter! They use the insulation for their bedroom and bathroom, feast on whatever crumbs of food they can find, and leave their droppings all over the structure, including in pantries and cupboards. Not only are rodents unsanitary, but they can also cause severe structural damage to wires, window frames, and more. Mice, rats, and other rodents contaminate food and are a health threat to your family and pets. Moreover, rodents can bring more pests into your home, as fleas, ticks, and mites can hitch a ride indoors on their fur.
Understanding the biology and behavior of rodents is crucial in implementing effective control measures for residents in South Florida, particularly in Fort Lauderdale, where rodent activity peaks in the cooler months when these pests seek warmth indoors. Recognizing this seasonal behavior helps to anticipate and prepare for potential infestations, allowing homeowners to take preventive actions early.

Another essential factor to consider is the high density of structures in urban areas like Fort Lauderdale, which offers rodents numerous hiding places. By tailoring our rodent control strategies to the specific environment of South Florida, including urban landscapes and coastal conditions, we provide solutions that are not only practical but also highly effective. This region-specific approach enables us to address issues that more generic pest control methods might overlook.

Comprehensive Rodent Control in Fort Lauderdale

  • Seal the exterior of your property to prevent rodents from entering
  • Remove the rodents that are currently inside your home
  • Utilize both traps and baits depending on your infestation
  • Give you a rodent-free home that you can feel safe in

The unique environment of Fort Lauderdale means that certain types of rodents, such as palm rats, are more prevalent due to the city’s proximity to water bodies and lush vegetation. This creates a year-round challenge for rodent control, as these animals find ample food and shelter in residential and commercial areas alike. Our team’s deep understanding of these conditions informs our targeted rodent management strategies, ensuring we offer solutions that work effectively in the local context.

Each of our control programs includes a detailed assessment of the best methods to suit the specific rodent issues at hand. By combining practical interventions such as exclusion work, habitat modification, and regular monitoring, we create a comprehensive plan that addresses rodent problems from multiple angles. This multi-faceted approach not only removes existing rodents but also reduces the likelihood of future issues by making the environment less appealing to these persistent pests.

Effective Rodent Trapping & Removal

Wondering how our process works? At Hoffer Pest Solutions, we will first place traps around your home and monitor them for 5 days. Traps will be replaced as needed, and we will remove rodents from the traps as they are caught. In addition to traps, our rodent removal team will also place bait stations around the perimeter of your property every month. Each month, we will return to inspect each station and replace the bait as needed to help ensure rodents do not return.

Our trapping techniques are specifically designed to be both humane and effective, prioritizing the safety of your family and pets. The traps and bait stations we use are strategically positioned to optimize rodent capture, targeting high-activity areas identified during our initial inspection. By utilizing a careful selection of bait and precise placement, we maximize the effectiveness of each trap.

Here is what you can expect from our trapping and removal process:

  • Initial placement and monitoring to identify where rodents are most active inside and around your home
  • Ongoing trap maintenance so devices remain in good working order and are replaced when necessary
  • Monthly bait station service around the exterior to help intercept rodents before they move indoors
  • Clear communication after each visit so you understand what was found, what was done, and any next steps we recommend

Beyond trapping, maintaining a rodent-free home requires ongoing attention. Our monthly inspections ensure that any potential re-infestations are caught early, saving you from extensive damage or health risks associated with rodents. This continuous monitoring strategy, combined with client education on best practices for maintaining a rodent-free environment, provides long-lasting peace of mind.

What do mice look like?

The house mouse is a species of mouse that as their name suggests most commonly invades homes. House mice are brownish-gray in color with a lighter colored off- white underbelly. They have black eyes, large ears, and a pointed nose. Generally adults grow to be 2 ½ – 3 ¾ of an inch long.

Are mice dangerous?

Yes, mice are dangerous to have living in your home. They are rodents, which means that their front incisors continuously grow and in order to prevent overgrowth they are constantly chewing on things. When inside of homes they can cause a lot of structural damage and destroy personal items because of the constant need to chew. Their feces and urine can also cause a variety of health issues in some cases. Mice are also dangerous because they can expose you and your family to a variety of serious diseases including salmonellosis, leptospirosis and dysentery. They will also introduce other parasites like fleas, ticks, and mites into your home.

Why do I have mice?

Mice can and do live outdoors, but it is also very common to find them living indoors. Mice get into homes while in search of three things shelter, food, and water. If these things can easily be provided in an environment, then they will stay as long as possible and make themselves at home. They are able to move through very small spaces and create a nesting area behind walls, in basements, attics, crawl spaces, and even behind large appliances. Their nesting area is usually in close proximity to their food and water sources, which in homes is generally the kitchen and pantry areas.

How do I tell if I have mice in my Fort Lauderdale home?

The most common sign that mice have come into your home is to find mouse droppings on the floor, along walls, in cabinets, and in drawers. Their droppings look very similar to the size and shape of a grain of rice, except that mice droppings are a dark brown or black color. You may also hear the mice running behind walls or above the ceiling at night while you are trying to fall asleep. Due to their need to constantly be chewing, you may start to notice chew marks on food containers, furniture, flooring, pipes, wires, and other items.

How do I get rid of mice?

The best way to get rid of your mice problem is to call a professional pest control expert. Hoffer’s professionals have the experience, training, and knowledge you need to find all mice nesting areas and quickly eliminate all of the mice living in your home. What do rats look like?

What a rat looks like depends on the species that they are. Two of the most common species of rats that invade homes and other buildings include the Norway rat and the roof rat.

Norway rats, or “brown rats” as they are also referred to, are most commonly found in urban areas, fields, and farmlands. The Norway rat is brown with some scattered black hairs in their fur and their underside is a whitish-gray color. They have a long heavy body, blunt nose, small eyes and ears, and a slightly shorter tail than other rat species. Adults grow to be about 7-9 ½ inches in length and have a tail length of about 6-8 inches.  Norway rats are terrible climbers, so they are usually found invading ground levels of buildings and basements.

Unlike the Norway rat, roof rats are great climbers and can be found in trees, attics, and in upper levels of buildings. Roof rats have a long thin body, pointed nose, large eyes and ears, and a long tail. Their fur is a brownish color with black hairs throughout it and their underside can be black, gray or white. Adults can grow to be about 6-8 inches long and have a tail length that is equal to their body at 6-8 inches.

Are rats dangerous?

Yes, rats are considered to be dangerous for several reasons.  These reasons include:

  • Causing significant damage to property and personal belongings through their constant need to chew to prevent their front incisors from overgrowing.
  • If cornered or directly handled they can bite or scratch.
  • They contaminate food, and leave trails of urine and feces, which can be a health hazard wherever they travel throughout your home.
  • They bring in other parasites likes mites and fleas.
  • They have been known to transmit many serious diseases including bubonic plague, rat-bite fever, typhus, and salmonellosis to people.
Why do I have rats?

Rats like to live in areas that are close to people because we give them easy access to three things that they need to survive; food, water, and shelter. They can get into homes many ways, and sometimes only need a space the diameter of a quarter to squeeze into a space. Rats will enter into homes through spaces in the foundation and around utility entrances, through loose vents covers, and open spaces in roof soffits.

What are some signs I have rats in my Fort Lauderdale home?

If rats are in your home you will probably hear them before you see them. At night while they are active you will hear them scratching and running behind your walls or above your ceilings. You may also find their feces in basement and attic areas, and see chew marks on pipes, drywall, flooring, and food containers. Rats also tend to leave grease or dirt marks on walls as they travel throughout your home.

How do I get rid of rats?
